Fascinating isn’t it.

Background
It’s fascinating to see how current reporting on immigration is presented in such a dramatic, action-packed style, to create the impression that the number of individuals being detained / deported is much greater than the truth.
In his first year in office, Obama oversaw the deportation of 393,289 people, culminating a total of 3.1 million by the end of his presidency. Biden’s administration recorded 4.4 million deportations throughout his term.
In comparison, Trump, has deported around 70,000 individuals so far.
What’s interesting is although high numbers of people were deported during previous administrations, we never witnessed military vehicles patrolling our streets or immigration agents in masks threatening citizens.
I often remind myself the news we see today is just another installment of a never-ending fast action Netflix drama titled ‘Fake Press’
